Val Fagare (Fogarè) is a hidden pearl in the heart of the Monti del Sole group, one of the wildest and most vertical alpine chains in the middle of the Belluno Dolomites National Park, a pleasant and isolated place a stone's throw from the very popular via della Cordevole Valley.
Here we will describe the lower part of the gorge, the easiest to access and most interesting for various reasons. In fact, the lower part only requires about forty minutes on foot to approach the entrance to the gorge via an exposed ledge, partially secured by Enel workers to access the intake built in the 1950s at the end of the first ravine.
The route is suitable for canyoneers who have already covered some gorges before.
The descent represents the best that the nature of canyoning can offer, many possible dives, a succession of rappels through waterfalls into hypnotic pools and almost dark rooms that alternate with long corridors where the spring water descends, vaporising in the fall before get to the ground.
The total distance is about 4/5 hours for an average group of 6/7 people.
