This extraordinary route winds through the verdant and luxuriant hills of Val Belluna, carving a deep furrow through normally gentle, not severe territories; in stark contrast to the rugged walls of the nearby Belluno Dolomites.
The Val Maor, despite being sub-horizontal and almost without important descents, has four long stretches dug into the extremely compact sedimentary rock.
The almost hypogeal environment, the wonderful erosion phenomena of the rock and the crystal clear water make it a true jewel of beauty for canyoning, especially if traveled in spring with the optimal water level.
Unmissable!
Given the lack of technical difficulties and the ease of access, with an average water flow, despite the narrowness of the environments and the lack of loopholes, this itinerary is within the reach of anyone who wants to try their hand at this stupendous discipline. It is certainly not the most adrenaline-pumping gorge ever from the point of view of verticality, on the contrary, however it can be considered an exceptional attraction from an environmental point of view.
In fact, we will descend through this authentic journey to the center of the earth on foot, in a wonderful and unexpected environment, with a few small dives (not mandatory) and natural slides along the way in an impressive environment for its continuity, remarkable darkness and singular beauty.
In the past, the Val Maor was also for centuries a natural defense protection for the Castle of Zumelle, isolating it from enemy attacks with its deep gorge.
